BackSerbia buys Microsoft software license for scientists, US software giant mulls opening innovation center in Serbia. Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic and US software giant Microsoft Vice President Alain Crozier have signed an agreement under which Serbia will obtain a license for Microsoft's software for its scientific community, according to a statement on the government's website. Speaking after the signature in Belgrade, Djelic said that Serbia got a significant discount on the four-year license, which costs USD 755,000, adding that it will be used by 11,000 members of the country's scientific community. The two sides also signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of science and IT, Djelic said, announcing plans that this cooperation be advanced by
opening Microsoft's innovation center in Serbia, with the possibility of signing a related agreement this fall. At the same time, "significant" funds will go towards developing IT in Serbia, Djelic said, noting that substantive headway will also be made on the protection of intellectual property.
